Beaconsfield Masonic Centre
Old School House
(Tel : 01494 678522)
In October 1984, the Old Church School, adjoining St. Mary's Church, became available as the arts and crafts group currently using it were leaving. Negotiations were started for the lease and planning permission obtained to convert the building into a Masonic & Community Centre. Work went ahead in September 1985 and the centre opened in October 1985.
The large, high-roofed rooms provide comfortable and airy accommodation for both Masonic and non-Masonic functions, including weddings, Ladies' Festivals and birthday parties.
The Centre is in the process of negotiating a 99 year lease which will enable further renovation and decoration to take place. Whilst a mortgage is in place to buy the lease, a Centre Appeal Fund is holding a series of functions and events to help to reduce the debt as quickly as possible.
From the M40 (J2) head north on the A355 towards the old A40 and turn left onto the London Road at the roundabout towards Beaconsfield passing the cricket ground on your right. Proceed westwards until you reach a mini-roundabout and continue westwards towards and through part of the 'Old Town'. Continue to a large roundabout (marked with a right turn towards the Beaconsfield 'New Town') and take a left at this roundabout. You will pass a Church on your right hand side. Proceed in a southerly direction for about 800 yards until you notice a telephone box on the left hand side. Opposite, on your right, you will notice a road through the car park (or marketplace on Tuesdays!). Take this road and proceed over the speed bumps with the cemetery to your right. The Old School House is directly in front of you. There is ample parking at the rear of the building.
You can find a map of the centre here.
